The NCCBG Seeks Events & Allied Programs Manager

The North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild is a not-for-profit (501c6), board-directed, association of North Carolina independent craft brewers and allied members, whose mission is to advance the interests of the craft breweries of North Carolina and to promote NC craft beer.


Job Summary:

The Events & Allied Programs Manager is responsible for the planning, management and execution of all Guild programs and events, including but not limited to: 

  • BrewSmart: one-day educational event held three times a year

  • NC State Fair Public House: the sole beer/wine venue at the State Fair

  • NC Craft Brewers Conference (NCCBC): annual 3-day conference + trade expo

  • NC Brewers Cup Competition: largest single-state beer competition in the Southeast

  • NC Beer Label Insanity Competition: (brand new for 2021) state-wide label art competition

 

Additionally, the Events & Allied Programs Manager will lead coordination of event sponsorships and fulfillment. This role will require building relationships with our Allied members, creating customized sponsorship proposals that provide mutual value, and ensuring that all sponsorships are executed effectively and professionally.

 

Event Management Role - Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage online event registration at NCBeer.org;

  • Research and coordinate event logistics including venue, equipment rentals, & catering;

  • Coordinate and develop necessary event signage, assets, and decor; 

  • Track event expenses ensuring  budget expectations are met;

  • On-site event management and execution;

  • Manage attendee communications (ie. providing attendee instructions & logistics, such as parking, check-in procedures, etc…)

  • Develop written procedures for all events

  • Solicit, train, coordinate, and manage event volunteers;

  • Work with the Guild’s Social Media Manager to ensure appropriate event promotion;

  • Provide event-specific reporting.

 

Sponsorship Management Role - Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Guild leadership team to develop sponsorship opportunities for each event;

  • Work with the Guild leadership team to solicit Allied members and other supporting companies for sponsorships; 

  • Draft sponsorship contracts, ensuring that expectations are clear and mutually agreed upon;

  • Manage fulfillment of sponsorship contracts, ensuring that details are fully executed; 

  • Coordinate any social media posts on behalf of the sponsor with the Guild’s Social Media Manager;

  • Maintain on-going communications with sponsors before, during and after events;

  • Create sponsorship fulfillment reports.


In addition to the above, event-specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • NC Brewers Cup Competition:
    • Coordinate judging venues;

    • Coordinate logistics for food and accommodations;

    • Coordinate medal distribution for winning breweries

  • NC State Fair Public House:
    • Coordinate with breweries/wineries for product donations;

    • Create a daily tap schedule to effectively use donated product;

    • Coordinate logistics for rental equipment;

    • Coordinate paid staff and volunteer scheduling;

    • Coordinate with Fair officials regarding set-up/tear down

  • North Carolina Craft Brewers Conference (NCCBC):
    • Coordinate with hotel/convention staff to implement conference contract

    • Manage Exhibit Hall Trade Expo

    • Coordinate with Speakers to ensure their presentation needs are met

  • World Beer Cup Competition / GABF Consolidated Competition Shipments:
    • Coordinate logistics to get shipments collected throughout the state and delivered to competition in a timely manner.

 

Applicant Requirements:

  • Experience with large-scale event planning & management;

  • Experience with sales, customer service, and/or client relationship management;

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail;

  • Excellent time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines;

  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment;

  • Ability to work remotely while remaining a collaborative and engaged team member;

  • Creative thinker with a vision for innovative solutions & improvements; 

  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends and nights;

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs (approx weight of a full sixtel keg);

  • Degreed individual preferred, but experience counts;

  • A love of NC Beer and the independent craft breweries that make it!
