Fifteen North Carolina breweries are sending Valentines to their local animal shelters thanks to craft beer lovers and animal lovers across the state. From February 5-9, the brewers competed against each other through “Brew To The Rescue” – a friendly fundraising competition that brought in a total of more than $14,870 for animal shelters and rescues across the state.
Lazy Hiker Brewing in Franklin NC won the competition, raising $3,886 for Appalachian Animal Rescue in just one week. They won a donation of 300 lbs of pet food for Appalachian Animal Rescue, donated by Unleashed of Raleigh, Cary & Wilmington, as well as gift certificates for their whole staff from Patton Avenue Pet in Asheville.
Boondocks Brewing in West Jefferson NC snagged the silver medal, raising $3,793 for the Grateful Dog and Puppies Under Protection. They’ll get a donation of pet food for their shelter partners from Four Dogs Pet Supplies in Charlotte.
The real winners are the animal shelters in our communities, with their mission of saving lives and finding homes for pets in need. You can see all the fundraising results below.
Thanks to our prize sponsors, and thanks to everyone who donated to make our very first #BrewtotheRescue a huge success!
