Eugene W. Chianelli, Jr. (“Gene”) at Williams Mullen has more than 20 years of experience in taxation and business law, assisting on state and federal tax policy, planning, and compliance. Additionally, Gene has served as Finance Counsel to the Speaker of the NC House of Representatives (now U.S. Senator) Thom Tillis, where he advised leaders on state and federal taxation law and policy. Gene regularly advises on compliance and reporting issues related to federal and state excise taxes on alcoholic beverages. Gene recently co-authored the Williams Mullen’s ABC law blog article detailing changes the new federal tax bill makes to federal excise taxes.
Laura Collier is an attorney at Strike & Techel, a law firm that focuses exclusively on alcoholic beverage law, and she is proud to serve as counsel to the North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild. Her first job was at a North Carolina brewery. Although she was a less-than-successful hostess, the job was first of many in NC’s beer and wine industry and the job helped spark her passion for fermented beverages. Laura enjoys using her practical industry experience to help businesses with their legal needs, and represents a wide variety of alcoholic beverage businesses, including producers, importers, and retailers.
